Chemical Etch & Laser Combination

PPD’s combined chemical etch + laser process brings together the fine surface-detail capabilities of chemical etching with the flexibility and profile-cutting capability of laser cutting.

The process is particularly useful for materials of 0.5 mm and above where fine etched surface detail is required on components that are thicker than those normally suited to conventional through-etching.

The combined process allows intricate surface-etched features to be incorporated into thicker materials and complex laser-cut profiles, providing design possibilities that would not normally be achievable using chemical etching alone.

Developed in-house by PPD, the process draws on more than 40 years of chemical etching experience alongside our laser cutting capability.
