Chemical Etch & Combination Sheet Size Guide

Customers are welcome to supply artwork in one of two formats:

Artwork for PPD to edit: Send us one of each component together with the quantity required. We’ll create the sheet layout for you. This option is useful for short lead-time work, prototypes and customers who prefer us to optimise the layout.

Ready-to-print artwork: If you prefer to create the complete sheet layout yourself, please follow the guidance below to ensure the layout is technically correct and cost-effective.

If you are supplying ready-to-print artwork, use the following sheet-size guidance to create an efficient layout for one-off work, repeat orders and larger projects.

One off / limited order

For small one-off etch orders, our minimum sheet size is 290 × 135 mm. This is intended for single-sheet orders and is generally not the most cost-effective option for repeat production.

For occasional repeat orders, you can create a layout up to 220 mm in length.

Standard Sheet Sizes

For repeat chemical etching orders, we recommend a standard sheet width of 290 mm.

Our commonly used standard sheet sizes are:

• 290 × 290 mm
• 290 × 440 mm

Longer layouts can be produced up to a maximum of 580 mm, where suitable.

Using standard sheet sizes helps with handling, shipping and consistent etching results. If your layout uses less than the full sheet length, we charge based on the actual length used.

Oversize Sheets

For larger chemical etching projects, we can process oversize sheets where the part or layout cannot be accommodated within our standard sheet sizes.

Oversize sheet dimensions can range from:

• Widths: 290–580 mm
• Lengths: 580–880 mm

Oversize charges apply to these larger sheet sizes.

Because oversize sheets require longer processing times, please contact us to confirm suitability and lead time before preparing your layout.

Combination Etch/Laser Size Guide

For combined etch/laser processing, the layout principles are similar to chemical etching, but the maximum recommended vertical dimension is 270 mm.

Where the material width allows, larger sheets can sometimes be processed, but oversize charges may apply.

If your part or layout exceeds the standard combination size, please contact us before preparing the artwork so we can confirm suitability.
